The new Facebook, Messenger and Instagram apps for windows 10 load faster and bring up to date features

Back in October Microsoft in conjunction with Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook, Messenger and Instagram apps for Windows 10 were in the works. Ever since that fateful day anxious users have been wondering when they will be officially released. The wait was finally over when social media giant Facebook rolled out the much awaited Facebook and Messenger apps on Windows 10 after several months of beta testing.

Facebook for Windows 10

We built the new Windows 10 Facebook app so it’s fast and easy to access your favorite features. Facebook is one click away from the Start Menu, and the app starts and loads your News Feed much faster than previous Facebook desktop applications. The new app has built-in desktop notifications feature and a user can pin a new Facebook Live Tile that will show the user latest updates from friends, family and Pages you follow. It’s also easy to share photos to Facebook straight from your favorite apps or File Explorer.

Other feature include:  reactions, stickers in comments and a right-hand column that shows birthday and event reminders, trending topics,  in app browser to make it easier for users to read and share articles from New Feed and more.

Messenger for Windows 10

To keep your conversations going wherever you are, we’re also rolling out a Messenger app. Along with many of your favorite Messenger features, including stickers, group conversations and GIFs. The Messenger for Windows has native desktop notifications and a feature that lets a user see unread messages with a Live Tile.

Although payments, voice/video calling and taking photos/video within the app are not supported yet, the company will be updating Messenger over time.

Instagram for Windows 10

When we first built Instagram for Windows, we were focused on bringing the app’s core features to the Windows Phone community as quickly as possible. The company also rolled out the updated Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile with all of the community's favorite features, including Instagram Direct, Explore and video.

The Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile supports Live Tiles, showing updates right on home screen.

Facebook and Messenger for Windows 10 are available in the Windows Desktop App Store while Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile will be available in the Windows Phone Store. We’ll be replacing the older Facebook Windows 8 listing in the Windows Store with the new Facebook Windows 10 app, using the below logo. People who have the Windows 8 app can choose to continue to use it, use Facebook in the browser or complete a free update to Windows 10. Later this year we’re excited to roll out the Windows 10 Phone Facebook and Messenger apps.
