Twitter changing preferences to 10000 character limit instead of 140

We hear that twitter is whopping a  10,000 character limit for tweets. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has affirmed that they are testing the new character limit in tweets. He explained in the message the reason for seeing the big change. Except, he didn't exactly write his confirmation in a tweet- he wrote about as Re/code reported on Tuesday that the company is exploring its limits on text from 140 characters to as many as 10,000.

Dorsey added that company has seen more people sharing screenshots of text, which are a way to get around the 140-character limit. "We are not going to be shy about building more utility and power into twitter for people." Dorsey wrote in a screenshot of text that was longer than 140 characters.

Twitter constitute a new feature that will help users to tweet things as long as 10,000 characters  instead of 140-character limit. The company is planning its launch date towards the end of Quarter 1, according to multiple source familiar with the company's plans. Still there is no official date launch. It's also not confirmed that the character limit could be same or may change before it rolls out the final product. Twitter is testing a version of the product that displays 140 character tweets but now only partial content will be seen.Clicking on the tweets would expand them to reveal more content. Therefore your timeline would still look the same, except for "read more"-type buttons which will  let you read full message.

One thing is certain : twitter is eager to get away from the bound  140 character limit which will help them to grow their user base. In the few months since Dorsey returned, Twitter introduced the 'Moments' feature, added polls to tweets, rolled out a "buy" button and replaced its star-shaped "favorite" icon with a heart-shaped icon called "like." Twitter has come under pressure in order to boost user growth or revenue. At the same time, he needs to respond company shareholders pining for a bigger audience that would generate more advertising revenue. It had its slowest user growth in 2015 which boasts just over 300 million users. Twitter also eclipsed by photo-sharing app Instagram, owned by Facebook Inc, which surpassed 400 million users last year.

Twitter is repeatedly still working out many details of this upcoming feature, including how to deal with spam, potential limits to the number of users that can be mentioned, and so on.
